I chose to take pictures of me with my animals! Animals are a huge part of my life so I thought they were perfect examples.

Macro
I chose to take my photos of hands. I feel like hands have so many small details that the macro can really express. I learned how shallow the depth of field really is with macro lenses. There is a very small portion that is in focus with a macro so you have to be very still when focusing on the area you actually want in focus. I liked these five images because they were the most focused and detailed!

Portraits
I chose to try environmental and detail. I like the way you can use the environment to create a nice background. I chose these five because I thought her emotion was best in these. The lighting and exposure was also the best in these five photos.

Landscapes
I chose these photos because I likes the composition of each of them. The exposure and lighting turned out the best in each of these photos. I chose to take the landscape photos while I was on a hike in Hawaii, The deep green colors really added to the landscape photos. I realized landscape photos don't look as good when the colors are dull, I tried taking photos of some other areas but they ended up looking plane and uninteresting because of the small amount of color and contrast.

Cubomania
I wanted to use circles because I think they add a cool effect. I kept the waterfall intact but switched around the trees.

Food
I liked the shadow and lighting in this photo of the strawberry.
I liked the reflection of the light in the can in this photo.
I think the blur turned out cool because you can tell what the object is but you still have the blur effect.
I liked the soda on the edge of the can. Its a common thing we usually don't notice.
I wanted to take a photo of food humans don't eat.

Shadows
It was really fun to experiment with different shadows. There are so many cool ways you can use light and shadow to portray what you saying! I had a really fun time doing this assignment. I realized where the light is positioned is a huge factor. If the light is closer the shadow is going to be much bigger, and even less sharp, whereas when the light was farther back the shadow became clear and sharp.

Home
Home is wherever you feel safe and for me I feel safest in the mountains. I took this in Saint George where we visit often and it really feels like home.

Rules Of Composition
Balance
This image portrays balance well by having each side symmetrical.
Simplicity
Having everything but the subject negative space helps make it simple and easy to look at.
Leading Lines
The fence lines help lead to the subject.
Perspective
The subject is a different perspective than normal which emphasizes it.
Harmony
The photo is very balanced and has soft tones which make it feel peaceful.
Framing
The negative space from the window helps to frame the subject in the middle.
Repetition
The flower petals repeat several times which create the repetition effect.
Avoiding mergers
The background was out of focus to make sure the puppy and chair didn't merge with anything in the background.
Rule of thirds
The subject is in the top right corner of a third intersection.

Bad Photos
Motion Blur
Out of focus
Under exposed
merger
over exposed
Is a "bad" photo still an artistic photo?
Yes it is! Creativity cannot be defined as good or bad. What's good to some is bad to others and vice versa. Artists create things from feelings and ideas they have, and there's no such thing as a "bad" idea.
